While I was still writing under the pen name "Reprieve26" I started a series called "Cat House." The hubs chronicled some of my funnier adventures while sharing my house with a bunch of cats. From this point forward, I intend to continue the series under my new pen name, "Suzie O'Neill."

Orion and the Fan

If there was ever a contest for the world's grumpiest cat, Orion would win hands down. On more than one occasion, I've had visitors to my home turn to me and declare, "That cat's schizophrenic!"

One minute Orion will be sweet and loving then in a split second she'll morph into a growling, hissing, clawing beast. She's also in the habit of walking across the livign room muttering to herself. But, to be completely fair, she's more bark than bite. Sure, she'll growl, hiss, and mutter but she'll rarely claw anyone. Then again, she did give my room mate a black eye once... but that's a story for another day!

The sad part is that Orion wasn't always like this. She was a very sweet kitten. In fact, she didn't turn into a Gremlin... e-hem, I mean a grumpy cat until after she was spayed. I don't know if the surgery affected her hormone levels or what, but her moods have fluctuated greatly ever since.

Anyway, I digress. You're probably wondering about the title of this hub, huh? Well, back in her sweet kitten days I walked into the living room one sunny afternoon to discover little Orion standing on top of my rotating fan. I picked her up and set her down on the floor, but she immediately returned to her new perch.

"Silly kitten, aren't you uncomfortable?"

Apparently not. Orion continued to sniff at her new found "friend" and ignore my requests for her to get down. That's when I had an idea. Surely if I turned the fan on the movement would startle her and she'd get down, right?

Wrong. Instead of being scared, the goofy kitten became even more fascinated. She continued to stand on top of the fan while it slowly rotated back and forth. She looked like she was surfing while she continued to shift her weight in order to maintain her balance. It was hilarious!

Eventually, Orion got too big to ride the fan (or maybe she simply lost interest), but for several weeks I was often entertained by her "surfing" the rotating fan!

Your Orion looks like a little sweetie! My sister has a kitty that, we are sure, would prefer to be an only cat. Her temperament in similarly unpredictable, but she. like Orion, is more bark than bite - or more MEOW than scratch? "D

No, I talk to Orion. (chuckle) But she usually chooses to mutter back. The new kittens have learned to give the grumpy cat her space!
